Also known as typhoons or cyclones, hurricanes develop over tropical oceans. Hurricanes are giant storm, often measuring more than 400 miles (600 km) in diameter with winds circulating at speeds up to 200 mph. Hurricanes can cause immense destruction too! Hurricane Felix struck Central America in 2007, this caused more than 130 deaths.
