Calcium has 2 valence electrons. It would have to loose 2 to get eight, so it would have a charge of +2. Phosphorus have 5 and would need to gain 3 electrons which would give it a charge of -2. Bromine has 7 and would need gain 1, so it would have -1 charge. Surfer needs 2 and would have a -2 charge
