During the French Revolution, most of France (especially the Third Estate) wanted to get rid of the absolute monarchy. In the duration of the Revolution, which lasted 10 years, the French people sought to take King Louis XVI from his throne and establish a new form of government. In 1793, Louis was, in fact, executed for conspiring with foreign leaders, which turned out to be false. The French people still continued to identify themselves with a singular leader because they thought that Napoleon was a great General, so he could possibly become a good leader of France. During his reign, he did a lot for France in the ways of public education and the military. Napoleon had been taking land for France before his ruling, and the French people admired this. I hope this helped.
He was the first leader to successfully introduce new political reforms.
