The Palmer Raids (1919-1920) were raids by the federal government on alleged radical centers, during a time when the US was against immigrants and radicalism (often putting the two as one). The raids were supposed to uncover dynamite, but no dynamite was found. About 6,000 people were arested, and 500 who were not American citizens were deported.
