Revolution. The French Revolution changed everything because it meant that a great power of Europe would be using freedom and democracy as the center of its ideals. It directly resulted in the Napoleonic Wars and would later affect unification of Germany sand Italy, thus affecting WW1 and WW2, thus affecting Cold War, etc
