"The Great Schism came to existent due to a  mix of religious dissent and political disputes. One of the numerous religious differences between the western (Roman) and eastern (Byzantine)  church, was whether or not it was tolerable to use unraised bread for the sacrament of communion. The west or Romans supported this practice, while the east or Byzantine did not supported it".

"These religious disputes grew because of a number of vile political differences, specially regarding the power of Rome. Rome suggested that the pope, the religious head of the Roman church, should have superiority over the patriarch, the religious head of the Byzantine church. Since then these two churches never reunited".
