In the Americas around 3500bce, the largest population center was in the valley of Tehuacan Mexico.
The Tehuacán Valley, or more specifically the Tehuacán-Cuicatlán valley, may be found in central Mexico's southeast Puebla state and northwest Oaxaca state. It is the most arid region in Mexico's southernmost region, and the Sierra Madre Oriental mountain range's rain shadow is to blame for this aridity.
Tehuacán is one of the oldest Spanish settlements in Mexico. In addition to producing cattle, pigs, and goats, the hinterland also produces corn (maize), beans, wheat, alfalfa, oranges, grapes, and pomegranates. There are abundant silver and lead mines nearby. Mineral waters from the area are popular throughout the country and are bottled in the city. Due to rich vegetation and water resources it was the largest population centre.
