Natural resources are those that are accessible without human intervention. Like the sun, the atmosphere, the air, the water, the land, the mines, the vegetation, and animal life.
- There are two categories of natural resources: renewable resources and non-renewable resources.
Renewable resources :
- These are the kind of natural resources that, even after constant use, do not become exhausted or depleted.
- For example, Wind and Sunlight
- These have low carbon footprints and low carbon emissions.
- Infrastructure costs for the production of renewable energy are very costly.

Non Renewable resources :
- These are the natural resources that, as a result of ongoing human usage, become exhausted or depleted and are neither renewed nor replaced.
- For example, groundwater, fossil fuels, and mineral ores etc.
- These emit more carbon than other, which increases their carbon footprint.
- Infrastructure costs for the production of energy from these resources are low.
