Atomic electron arrangement is the only factor that affects how they behave chemically.
The electron arrangement is independent of whether an atom contains three or four neutrons. All that matters is how many protons there are and how many electrons there are to match them, which determines how these atoms will behave chemically. When grouping atoms in the periodic table, we designated a box as an element when all of the atoms have the same number of protons (with a corresponding symbol) Thus, the sole difference between the various forms of an element is its number of neutrons; we refer to these forms as the element's isotopes. Both lithium-6 and lithium-7 have three protons and three neutrons.
