George Martin, who is best known as The Beatles' record producer, has had a long and varied musical career and continues to have a special place in the hearts of fans as one of the few genuine "good people" in popular music. Brian Epstein, the manager of the Beatles, and George Martin first became acquainted when Epstein made the decision to have acetate test recordings of a Beatles audition tape on his pivotal final trip to London to try to secure the band a recording deal. The band had been rejected by almost every label in England, but Martin was nonetheless impressed enough to offer them a studio audition despite not being completely won over by their demo.
