The Career Development Event (CDE) is the type of nationally recognized event in the parliamentary procedure contest.
Even if you’re not involved in the parliamentary procedure community, chances are you’ve heard of its biggest event.
The National High School Institute Parliamentary Procedure Contest (NHSIPPC) attracts high schoolers from all over the country, who come together to participate in an exciting three-day event that tests their knowledge and skills in parliamentary procedure and debate.

It draws participants from across the United States and Canada. Teams come from many different kinds of organizations, such as high schools, colleges, libraries, law firms, parishes, and more.
At the preliminary rounds held all over North America, five teams compete at each site for three hours on how well they can perform various versions of formal meetings of legislative bodies (i.e., U.S.)
They believe students will benefit from competing in one of the National Parliamentary Procedure Contests, because it allows students of all ages and experience levels to practice and refine their skills, without any pressure.
Also, there are plenty of ways for students to get started if they have never taken a course in this subject matter before.
Finally, each student has an opportunity to compete against other students from across the country in their respective divisions.
