Louise has put together the setup shown in the figure to investigate how different masses respond to different forces. A mass is attached to two stretched springs. It rides on a track with very little friction. When Louise pushes the mass to either side and then lets it go, it oscillates back and forth, much like a pendulum. Explain why the mass oscillates.
