Today's globe is home to a wide variety of social movements, all of which have respect as their common goal. The World Wide Web makes it possible to share information and connect with others who hold the same beliefs, aspirations, and philosophies.
A global social movement called Black Lives Matter (BLM) was established in the US in 2013 with the goal of combating racism and anti-Black violence, particularly when it manifests itself in the form of police brutality.
The goal of BLM activists is to raise awareness of the numerous ways that Black people in society are treated unfairly as well as the ways that institutions, laws, and policies contribute to this injustice. Through nonviolent protests, political activity, and letter-writing campaigns, the movement has opposed racism.
BLM works to stop for-profit jail mistreatment, excessive police presence in minority neighborhoods, and police brutality. Calls for improved police training and increased accountability for police wrongdoing have been made as part of its efforts. In Black areas, BLM activists have participated in voter registration and turnout drives. BLM initiatives have also honored Black authors and artists.
