In summer, the amount of green pigment and chlorophyll are much more, in fall, the amount of chlorophyll and green pigment is less. That's the reason the leaves turn colors.

Okay, so we know that leaves get their green color from a green pigment called chlorophyll. During the summer, leaves are very green and then during the fall leaves tend to be brown, orange, and yellow. This is because the amount of chlorophyll is a lot less in the fall. The chlorophyll is breaking down during this time of the year, which gives the leaves a brownish color.
