Operation Dixie was launched by Congress of Industrial Organizations in twelve Southern states in 1946.It was sometimes a success while the other racial strife in the South made it difficult for black workers and poor whites to engage cooperatively for successful union organisation.It was Philip Murray who appointed a 7-member committee in order to fulfil this grand idea.
