American punter William Ray Guy played in the National Football League for the Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders from December 22, 1949 through November 3, 2022. (NFL). Guy, a senior with the Southern Miss Golden Eagles, was named to the first team All-American in 1972. In 1973, the Oakland Raiders selected Guy with the 23rd overall pick in the NFL Draft, making him the first pure punter ever to be selected in the first round. With the Raiders, he won three Super Bowls. 2014 saw Guy become a member of the College Football Hall of Fame as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Guy, an eight-time All-Pro, is regarded as the best punter of all time.
