About 10% of the Earth's land surface consists of Karst Terrain.

Karst terrain refers to landscapes where the bedrock has dissolved and hence, resulted in the formation of caves, sinkholes, springs, and other such landscapes. Karst terrains have soluble types of rock present in their bedrock, such as marble and gypsum.

The Karst landscapes are found mostly in the sedimentary basins around the world. Karst terrain is simply beautiful although very prone to groundwater pollution. This is so because of the continuous, heavy flow of water and lack of a natural filtration system that then leads to water pollution here.
