Millions of dollars were recovered along with 21 arrests in a nationwide catalytic converter theft ring operation.
According to a report released on Wednesday by the Justice Department, 21 persons have been detained across five states on suspicion of participating in a national catalytic converter theft ring.
Today, leaders and associates of a national network of thieves, dealers, and processors were brought to justice for their roles in plots involving stolen catalytic converters that were sold to a metal refinery for tens of millions of dollars by federal, state, and local law enforcement partners from across the United States.
Aside from California, there were arrests, searches, and seizures in Oklahoma, Wyoming, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Nevada, North Carolina, and Virginia.
A total of 21 people have been detained and/or arrested for their roles in the plot throughout five states.
