Sheridan is really hoping to find at the mall a small young boy to take and that is why he is at the mall at the beginning of the story.

Sheridan discovers his newest potential target of opportunity while hiding in a mall's parking lot in his customised van: a young youngster who is standing close to the entrance, seemingly estranged from his parents and in distress. He approaches Sheridan, who claims to have seen the child's Popsy (as the boy calls him).
