The media keeps people informed of significant events and developments. However, there are benefits and drawbacks to media as well. We can easily access information with just one click because different forms and types of media are available everywhere. However, there are drawbacks to using social media.
Politicians once traveled to interact with the public and meet them in person. That is gradually disappearing as online townhalls take its place.
It is now simple to connect with many people simultaneously, across many timezones, without moving locations, thanks to video conferencing, video calls, social media apps, and technology.
Television, radio, and cable television—all considered traditional media—were once the main information providers and, as a result, the primary influences on politics and government.
Today, the internet has made it possible for individuals or a group of people without much financial investment in technology to establish themselves and amass a following with sufficient clout to affect governance.
Wikileaks, online petitions, the rise of terrorist groups with strong informational and technological capabilities as well as social media know-how have all permanently altered how those in public office and other stakeholders previously viewed governance.
