Laertes is understandably upset when he returns from france. His father has been murdered. He does not yet know about how ophelia has deteriorated mentally. he hold claudius responsible for his pain.
Laertes asks King Claudius to come back to Denmark from France.There are numerous reasons why he grants it so easily:He has absolutely no affection for Laertes;he believes that Laertes should meddle with Hamlet in order to occupy him from tracking down reality with regards to the homicide of his dad.In contrast, when Laertes learns that his father has passed away, he reacts violently.He sends an army to Denmark and threatens to overthrow the king if his father or his killer are not found.
Claudius rushes to kill Hamlet as soon as he tells Laertes that Hamlet killed his father.She doesn't know that Laertes has returned from France and is vowing vengeance on Claudius and leading a riot as a response to his father's death.He goes up to Claudius and threatens him until Claudius tells him that Polonius's death is not his fault.He is also horrified by Ophelia's condition when he finds her.
