A categorical imperative tells us that we should do something in all situations regardless of our wants and needs.
It is our responsibility to act toward other people in such a way that we would like other people to respond in like situations. This was described by Kant as the Categorical Imperative. As if it were a global rule, live by the norm that you would want to see adhered to by all other reasonable beings.
The Kingdom of Ends Formula states, "So operate as if you were a law-making member of a kingdom of ends through your maxims." Never use someone as a tool to achieve an objective. People are always meant to an end. Never should we abuse or take advantage of someone.
