The tensions are often high between Israel and Palestinian living in East Jerusalem, Gaza, and the Wet Bank. The Palestinian group that rules Gaza have had many fights with Israel. Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank stated that they are suffering on account of Israeli actions and restrictions while Israel claims that it is only acting to protect itself from Palestinian violence. In 1967, Israel occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank, as well as majority of the Syrian Golan Heights, Gaza, and the Egyptian Sinai Peninsula. Israel still occupies the West Bank, but it pulled out of Gaza which is still regarded by UN as occupied territory. Peace talks have been taking place on and off for more than 25 years, but so far there has been no resolution to the Israel -Palestinian conflict.
