Purpura also called as blood spots or skin hemorrhages is a condition of red or purple discolored spots on the skin that do not blanch on applying pressure. There are two kinds of purpura: nonthrombocytopenic and thrombocytopenic. Â Nonthrombocytopenic indicates having normal platelet levels in your blood. Thrombocytopenic indicates having lower than normal platelet count. It is commonly caused due to the platelet disorders, vascular disorder, coagulation disorder, Meningococcemia , and consumption of drugs like cocaine etc.
