Based on cell structure, metabolism and DNA sequence scientists identify and classify prokaryotic organisms.
Cell is the smallest unit that makes up the body of living things and is the place where the functions of life are carried out. Cells based on their structure are divided into two, namely prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells.
Prokaryotic cells are cells that do not have a nuclear membrane and the cell wall structure consists of peptidoglycan, lipids, and proteins. Prokaryotic cells are single cells that are smaller than eukaryotic cells. Therefore, prokaryotic organisms can only be seen through a microscope and their classification is based on DNA sequence, metabolism, and cell structure.
