Once every 24 hours the Earth spins or rotates on its axis taking us all with it. When we are on the side of Earth that faces the Sun, we have daylight. As the Earth continues its spin, we move to the opposite side of our Sun and have night.
If the Earth did not rotate on its axis, one side would always face the Sun while the other side would be away from the Sun. Thus, one side would get very hot and the other side would get very cold. Ultimately, life would not have been possible under such circumstances. The Earth's revolution time can refer to the time it takes to completely rotate on its own axis or it can mean the time it takes to make one complete revolution around the sun. The revolution time on its axis is called a day and the time it takes to go around the sun is called a year.
