Respuesta :

Colonialism prevented local elites from being held accountable to their constituents and also prevented future political development. Even if these states had a cohesion that others did not have after independence, their rulers were far more rapacious.

What effects did colonialism have?

The largest drawback of colonisation was the exploitation of the natural resources by outsiders, which benefited the colonisers rather than the native populations. Major landscaping was done in order to exploit the natural resources, ruining the generally calm way of life of the residents. There was a large cash drain as a result of colonialism. The finest example of this is British India, where there is still a disagreement between Indian historians and those who support British colonialism.
