The term "ace" in volleyball refers to when a player serves the ball and the opposing team is unable to pass it. In volleyball, an ace occurs when the ball either hits the ground or is shanked off of a passer making a second touch impossible.

Ace is the easiest and only way that an individual player can score a point all by themselves. After an ace the player continues the rally.
