the belief systems from generation to generation down through the ages and are still referred to for guidance and proper understanding. One of the most significant and prominent Buddhist sutras in the Mahayana Sutras is the Sutra. In many Asian nations where Mahayana Buddhism is widely practiced and revered, the Sutra is held in high regard. The lotus sutra was originally referred to as the "Saddharma Pundarika Sutra," which translates to "Scripture of the Lotus Blossom of the Fine Dharma." Since these schools were founded on the principles of the Lotus Sutra, many of the few Buddhist schools in China, Japan, and Korea adhere to its teachings. According to the Mahayana Sutras, Shakyamuni Buddha himself provided the words and teachings included in the lotus sutra. One of the special sutras that included Buddha's teachings was the Sutra.
