The perimeter of a college athletic field is 100 meters and the length is 16 m more than the width. Find the length and witdth.

Perimeter of rec. = 2 ( length + breadth )
Let width be = X
let length be = X + 16

so in formula........ 100 = 2 ( X + 16 + X )
100 = 2 ( 2X + 16 )
100 = 4X + 32
100 - 32 = 4X
4X = 68
X = 68 / 4 = 17 m

Width = X = 17 m
Length = X + 16 = 17 + 16 = 33 m
