Let Andy's bike weight = x
Let Barry's bike weight = x + 6

x + (x + 6) = 42
2x + 6 = 42
2x = 36
x = 18

Andy's bike weighs 18 pounds and Barry's bike weighs 24 pounds.

Edit:

24-18 = 6

The bike weighs 6 more pounds than Andy's.
