Well, if you had a denominator and a numerator that was like 4/6, it could be simplified down to 2/3, how?
You know that a fraction can be reduced until no longer it can be. Like 10 can be reduced to 5, half of it's original, but you cannot reduce 5 without going into decimals. If you simplify a fraction, you have to do the same on the top and bottom.
So for the example I gave, I said 4/6 into 2/3.
What I did was took 4/6 and divided it both by 2/2. Dividing the four by two, and the six by two.
4/6 / 2/2 = 2/3
Since that's it's lowest reduction, that's the simplified version of the fraction.
