In 1790, George Washington wrote in a letter, "My station is new; and, if I may use the expression, I walk on untrodden ground." What was he talking about?
its's because no one had ever been President before, so there was no example for Washington to follow as he was the first president. All the decisions he had to make would be made for the first time. It was as if he was travelling somewhere that no one had been before, ground over which no one had previously walked.
