Photosynthesis is important to living organisms because it is
A. The foundation of most food chains
B. the source of nitrogen gas in the air
C. how animals get carbon dioxide to breathe
D. the process that occurs in most ecosystem

Respuesta :

It is not C because animals use cellular respiration to transfer CO2 into Oxygen in the mitochondria.

It could be considered A because in food chains, plants are the primary producers of food chains. These primary food chains go through photosynthesis in order to "breathe" and make food. So the best answer to me is A.

*Though, if you dig deeper, the process that occurs in most ecosystems could be the answer because most ecosystems have plants because plants are the bottom of the food chain, without plants, there is no oxygen for the mammals to breathe. **** Ask your teacher/professor upon this question and be sure to include the main points in my conclusion.

Photosynthesis is important to living organisms because it is foundation of most food chains

Further Explanation:

In food chain series of organism eat each other to transfer energy from one another. The food chain is started from primary producers and move upward. In the food chain, primary producers are autotrophs that synthesize their own food through photosynthesis. Photosynthesis starts with the absorption of light or solar energy by the plant pigments called chlorophyll. The activated chlorophyll molecule helps in the electron transfer from one acceptor to another forming a chain.

Mainly photosynthesis occurs in bacteria, algae and plants. The plant and algae both consists chloroplast that carry out photosynthesis through this process they can make their own food. Some bacteria can perform or carry photosynthesis and make their own food. Bacteria consists pigment which can easily absorb by light and carry out photosynthesis. Some examples of autotrophic bacteria are purple bacteria, cyanobacteria and green sulphur bacteria.

The first phase of photosynthesis the light-dependent reaction in which the absorbed light is utilized to produce molecules carrying energy that is used in the second phase to form carbohydrates by reducing carbon dioxide. The second phase of the photosynthesis is the dark reaction or the light-independent reaction happens in the stroma and utilizes the products formed during the light-dependent phase.
