I think that you could do Rosa Parks or Harriet Tubman, if its not required to be a singer. But you could do Ella Fitzgerald. She sang in the Apollo theater in 1934. For years, she was seen as the Top female Jazz singer. In 1958, she was awarded a grammy and was the first African American woman singer to receive a grammy. You can use these facts but you should do a little more research.
