The primary energy source for most communities is sunlight. Producers use sunlight to make carbohydrates. Consumers eat producers and use the carbohydrates for energy. What happens to the energy in a consumer's body when it dies?

Respuesta :

If the consumer is buried the energy from the body is distributed into the ground

Answer:

Much of the energy is consumed by the decomposers

Explanation:

Decomposers are usually defined as as those organisms which converts the complex organic matter into simpler ones, hence consuming the required amount needed and liberating the left over to the environment. Thus, the cycle goes on and helps in maintaining a state of between the living and the decaying particles.

Therefore, the producers, consumers and the decomposers are interdependent on each other.

So, it can be concluded that, after the death of an organism (consumer), some amount of energy is consumed by the decomposers and the remaining is mixed with the environment.
