PLEASE HELP ME!!!

A city manager wants to add a playground in a new city park. The rectangle below represents the plan for the dimensions of the rectangular playground.
w
x + 15

a. Find the width (w) of the rectangle if the area of the rectangle is x2 + 18x + 45.
area= x2 +18x+45

b. Find the dimensions (length × width) and the area of the playground if x = 8 yards.

Respuesta :

a. You are told that the length equals (x + 15), which means that you must factorise the area in order to find the width:
45 ÷ 15 = 3
(x + 15)(x + 3)
So the width is x + 3

b. Now you substitute in the value of x into both brackets, so
length: (x + 15) = (8 + 15) = 23 yards
width: (x + 3) = (8 + 3) = 11 yards

I hope this helps!
