During the American industrial revolution, there was a great need for workers to fill factory positions. Industrialization, which characterized this period of time, led to urbanization. Urbanization developed since there was a high demand for factory labor. For that reason, many people moved from the farms to the cities due to the economic growth and job opportunities. Besides, other businesses such as manufacturers, retailers and service also contributed to the demands for workers who established in the urban areas of big cities.
