Growing crops in urban areas these days is much more advanced and easier than growing crops in California's Central Valley before 1933. Before 1933, there wasn't any fancy machinery to pull the crops from the ground, so we had to do it by hand. There are still many farmers that pull crops out by hand, but these farmers are usually farming for their own food and not for a company or large business that requires crops from the farmers.
