Design a reinforced concrete beam for a simply supported span of 32 feet.
Use Grade 60 steel and normal weight concrete with a compressive strength of 4500 psi.
The beam will be loaded with 0.9 kips/ft dead load and 2.6 kips/ft live load (these loads do not include the self-weight).
Consider all applicable limit states in your design (both strength and serviceability).
Consider code detailing requirements in your design.
Draw elevation and cross-sectional views of your beam showing all required reinforcement and dimensions. You may use a software package such as AutoCAD or work neatly by hand.
