The girl (Or boy!) didn't have a date that night, so she and one of her friends made plans that instead of going out and eating at a nice and fancy place, they would take a bus to a a certain town and have a burger, and then go and watch a cheesy movie together as friends. To sum it up, It's saying that they didn't have a date and that they were going to have a fun night as friends. please tell me if i misunderstood your question
