What was the Reign of Terror and how did it lead to the downfall of the ideas of the Enlightenment?

the reign of terror was part of the period during the french revolution (September 5, 1793 - July 27, 1794).

The Enlightenment was a belief that as a person gained knowledge, they gained reason. 

im not sure how it led to the enlightenment but i hope this helps.

For the reign of terror, Between June 1793 and the end of July 1794, there were 16,594 official death sentences in France, of which 2,639 were in Paris. There were more that died in prison instead of being executed.
