Sarah and Caroline saw it all when civil war was there and the ones they've known were fighting.
Conclusion:
Sarah Morgan Dawson and Caroline Cowles Richards were going thourgh a hard time. Everyone they knew were fighting. They wrote diaries to take it off their minds but they stopped writing when Lincoln died. They were hoping for a pleasant future.
