A dictatorship secures its governing position by intimidation and the use of military force. The governors in such regime have not been elected through suffrage and therefore they are not legimitized by the will of citizens. The system imposed by a Military Junta is very similar to that of a dictatorship, only differs in the fact that is head is not a single person but a committee of military leaders.
Monarchies are also not elected by citizens, but in most developed countries nowadays are constitutional monarchies that do not have absolut power and in fact are submitted to the democratic instutions.
