The 2008 election was historically important for US women because the Alaska governor Sarah Palin attempted to become the first woman vice president in the country’s history, winning nearly 53 percent of the vote while Hillary Clinton ran for president during the 2008 elections.

New Hampshire is the only state in U.S which has more women legislators as compared to men.
