The reason behind why the student from Japan declines the offer and the student from the United States accepted was because both come from different countries, culture and their beliefs. They both came from different countries in which the way of their thinking and behavior is different that it likely affects how they perceive and responds to situation that is happening to them. It is like how the scenario occur, when the Japanese student had different thought in terms of recognizing their academic achievements.
