Let x = the first even number
x + 2 the second
x + 4 the third
x + 6 the fourth
Add together.
x + x + 2 + x + 4 + x + 6 = 92
Combine like terms.
4x + 12 = 92
Subtract 12 from both sides
4x = 80
Divide both sides by 4
x = 20
