By knowing the distance between the crest of one wave and the crest of the next wave we can determine the wavelength of the wave. It is denoted by λ or lambda. It is basically equivalent to the distance traveled by the wave.
As the frequency of the wave increases, its wavelength decrease. So, the frequency of the wave is inversely proportional to its wavelength as per following relation:
