When studying the soil, we must remember that the layers are added one upon the other, similar to a stack of dirty dishes. Going by our example, the dish that was most recently used is added to the top of the stack, while the older ones are at the bottom. Similarly, the layers younger than D will be the layers above layer D; these layers are layers A, B and C.
