Here is the answer.
The absorbent pad should be placed in a DRIP PAN, when assembling the Recycle Kit. The rationale behind this is that, the absorbent pad would ensure that the any liquid spills from the pad would just be contained and absorbed. This is also to avoid any additional mess. Hope this helps.

When assembling the Recycle Kit, the absorbent pad should be placed in a drip pan. A drip pan collects all of the moisture and without it liquid would spill. Even though the pad absorbs liquid, the liquid can still get on other things. By putting the absorbent pad on the drip pan, we ensure the liquid stays in the pan.
